Let Your Light Shine!
I found this brilliant quote from A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles” by Marianne Williamson.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
– “A return to love”, Marianne Williamson
When is now a good time to let your light shine?

Hi Thomas, this isn’t a paraphrase… I got this from the book
Although this is listed as a quote, it is not. It is a paraphrase. The actual work is much more beautiful and profound.
At least Yee Shun Jian credited the original author. Still it is inappropriate to misquote someone.
Wonderful poem. “Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.” Totally love this 2 sentence. By being successful with oneself, one can definitely help others too. As what The Secret states, overflowing with positive energy.
I think a lot of us are afraid of the responsibility that ‘shining’ brings us. I’ve experienced not stepping up to the plate because of fear of failure. But I learned to get over my fear and open myself up to my talent and potential. Now here I am and I’m very grateful for it!
Lovely poem, keep shining!
Hey Yee,
Great poem.
There are some of us who set goals…dream of being successful…getting what they want…but don’t see themselves being the type of person needed to get what they want.
We prevent ourselves from reaching our goals because we thought we are not fit to be the kind of person needed to reach our goals. Unfortunate!
