My Mission: To Touch As Many Lives As I Can So As To Bring More Love, Hope And Joy To The World!

Behold God’s Promises To You!

Today, I want to share with you my revelations on 2 Samuel 9:7 so that you can better appreciate and strengthen your faith in God's promises to you as His beloved child.

Here is what the New King James' Version of this scripture says:

So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father's sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”

Let me first give you a little background on this scripture so you can understand it better as I break it down for you…

“Him” refers to Jonathan's son Mephibosheth. Jonathan is David's blood brother (best friend) and Saul (Jonathan's father) was King before David took over (after Jonathan and Saul was killed in battle with some enemies).

When David became King, one of Saul's servants mistakenly thought David would come after Mephibosheth and quickly grabbed him so they could flee… In the process he accidentally dropped Mephibosheth who became lame and who always carried the misconception that David was after him… (This is of course just a quick summary… Please read your bible for the full story!)

Now let us turn back to the scripture so that you can see God's promises to you. Metaphorically, David represents God. Jonathan represents Jesus. And Mephibosheth represents you and me.

First, God is telling us “Do not fear“… because He knows fear will rob us of our faith. Fear will cause us to focus on our own weaknesses (lameness), our own insecurities, our own worries instead of His Goodness, His Grace and His Blessings.

Do not be afraid… Do not allow fear to be a bondage in your life! Remember that God's Perfect Love for you and me casts out all our fears so let's focus on His Love always, especially when we are faced with challenging situations, and allow His Love to melt away all our fears =)

for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father's sake” speaks of God's Deep Love for us. He sent His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place, so that our sins may be punished in Jesus' body, and His righteousness may be imparted to us.

Today, we are righteousness not because of what we have done (or what we can ever do) but because of what Jesus has done. And because of Jesus' one great act of sacrifice, God has made a promise to us (that he cannot break) that he will show us goodness and mercy all the days of our lives.

and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather” is God's reassurance to you that if something has been taken away from you, whether it's because of your own fault or otherwise, do not worry and do not fear because He will restore what you've lost. You just need to put your trust and faith in Him.

If you've been following me for some time, you will know that I made a really bad financial (stock) decision near the end of 2011 and lost my 6-figures life savings and got into 5-figure debts. It was entirely MY fault… but guess what? God is so faithful to me. Not only did he bless me abundantly and give me a 6-figure year in 2012 (restoration), he exponentially expanded my reach so I can be a blessing to so many others, including yourself! If God can do that for me, I know that He can and will do it for you as well…

and you shall eat bread at my table continually.” is so beautiful because God is saying that He will provide for us and make sure that we will always have food to eat… and bread here doesn't only mean physical food… It also refers to spiritual food… Every time we feed on the Word of God, we nourish ourselves not only physically (Healing), emotionally (we FEEL better), mentally (It clears our mental blocks) but spiritually as well.

And the best part is that He has promised to do that for us CONTINUALLY. This is not a one-time feast. No, Beloved… God will take care of us, provide for us, restore to us what we have lost, show us his Grace and cast out all of our fears with his Perfect Love continually!

And you know what? We don't have to be perfect to receive all these promises and all his Blessings. Mephibosheth was lame (and it was through no fault of his own – as mentioned, he was dropped by one of his grandfather's servants) and yet, God has promised him all these Blessings, not because Mephibosheth was perfect, not because of what Mephibosheth has done but because of what Jonathan (Metaphorical representation of Jesus) has done.

Don't look at your own weaknesses today and say “I'm not worthy of God's blessings”

Instead turn your attention to Jesus and his perfect work at the cross and boldly declare “I am the righteousness of God in Christ and I claim all of God's promises and Blessings in Jesus' name!”
